This was an old promotional picture from AuthorsDen.com. I actually been asked about if I thought about modeling -- I am no model, I prefer being called the spokeswriter. This was taken in October of 2002. RJ kept stealing the photos from these sessions. I originally had 20 of these. The nice thing about being a photographer is you don't need to hire someone to do the author shots. I was 20 lbs lighter in that photograph. Welcome to the reading room of Writings From The Grave this is where you're going to see a few of my freebie works in recent years, well they were coded for reading on here and I have a few that I have as PDF files -- some were expanded since I first wrote the story. Some stories are true some are works of fiction. The Diary-X catalog in part made their way into Collectives In A Forsaken Landscape (Among Shadows and Evil Airs are part of Collectives.)
A few stray stories from the journal made their way as a part of The Writings Collected: Vol. 2. There are a few stories that are taken from that book on this reading room section and I used The House of Pain's reading room and it's sister website for the model for the layout. Some of these stories were taken from my site on FictionPress.com and given a layout that was inspired by The House of Pain reading room for some of the short fiction. I wanted to do something huge with the online stories . Some of these stories in the reading room will go back to my early twenties from when I got noticed by different E-zines and from GothicVault (DJ Pulse now of Rant Radio.) Bare with me while everything is getting restored on here. I am doing this all the while working on new fiction stories (short stories and novellas) which are going to be print exclusive material -- I have the true ghost story, Apt 2W available in an expanded and explicit langauge version in my magazine.
I had to snap this photo while staying in DuPage County when I went to Convergence 10 in 2004 -- that was just after getting published for the first time with The House of Pain E-Zine. © 2004 by N.A. Pacione -- photograph is taken by me and noticed the sign hanging at the top. A photo ode to Robert Bloch.

I will have exclusive material to my magazine or in the pages of compiled anthologies on Lulu.com -- and I want to thank Mick Mercer and Bob Gunner for showing me the ropes about what it takes to run a magazine or a publishing house. I am not like other writers when it comes to having their web presence, I like having a real website that I maintain and update myself. I always been the do it yourself type and that shows in these works of fiction and non-fiction (yes I have a work of non-fiction shown on this particular incarnation of the reading room. If you're a magazine wanting to reprint some of these stories to a print format, please e-mail me in private. If you want to open the PDF stories -- do it in another link because you might have a hard time getting out of there. There are some stories that I've written that I wish to keep as print exclusives and you can look up the anthologies via Amazon.com. Damnation Observes is one of those stories I am going to keep as a print exclusive work but if you read it and want to know where I got the idea for that story feel free to drop me a message on facebook.
I am redoing the site for the people who check out my work for the first time from MySpace.com, VampireFreaks.com, YahooGroups.com or some other website where people go on social networking binges. I will eventually have a few pages devoted to the guidelines for the magazine and links for different anthologies too because in turn those are an extention of my website in the recent years. The magazine been an idea since 1997, and now that is realized. I am offered columns on different occasions but sometimes what I say might be too shocking for the columns. I am doing each of the web graphics a new with this section of my website and it's also the centerpiece of the website -- the thing that people come to the website for to begin with, the stories. For me some of these short stories are close to my heart for some reason or another -- for some of you, you're discovering them for the first time. If you're someone like the brat who hides behind colors for her screen name -- picking them apart like some plaything for her then you won't enjoy them. I also provided information where you can buy the print exclusive works too.
What I am writing now is much more epic in broadscope but they're every bit as dark as what I was writing when I was 20-24 years. Then I have a freebie up on Deviantart.com, but you need to be signed in to read this one -- it's a story that could be written in The Cemetery Dream Era. I showed this one to a person who just started getting in touch with me and he couldn't handle the intense graphic violence in the story -- that is something I will say with some of these stories. I was doing The House of Pain style horror when I was 24 years old. Meaning I was doing stories like Tillemans' The Mechanics of Perversion when I was a lot younger. The closest story I have now that could fit in that era is a short story called JESUS FREAK. My new w0rks became very epic and at the same time -- quite macabre and faith based. I got a lot of inspiration for the new stories from reading a book called Lucifer Dethorned. These stories will have explicit violence and swearing -- the only one relatively written relatively clean on this website is Halloween Girl. Some assholes actually plagiarized my work in the recent years and posted their stolen concepts and ideas on their blogs. Some people can't do stories that are truly theirs and it shows with the trend of people getting popular for writing stories with characters that aren't even theirs and making them into turd burglers. This story is the reason why people know who I am and know I am the biggest enemy to slash writers in the business. So as you're thumbing around the newly HTML'd favorite stories you will see a little bit of The House of Pain influence on the layouts. If you're seeking my poetry go over to AuthorsDen.com because I have a huge body of it over there. Some of you coming to my site from the House of Pain -- I am showing you stories I wrote as young as 20, and even then I have the imagination for the macabre.
Those of you who followed Writings From The Grave via GothicChicago.com -- some of you might know what you in for, but for those of you who are coming here from the social networking sites or the blog sites, this might be entirely new to you. So if you find the fiction here too disturbing don't say I warned you ahead of time. I've been doing disturbing horror stories since I was a kid so I got this down to a science. I find new ways to scare people out of their gord. I use more than one host for each story because some places don't allow for PDF hosting. I am even going to link up the interview that turned the horror genre upon it's head -- the website that did it now defunct but I managed to keep a copy of the intervew and did a PDF of the thing. I don't want to be on the fucking bandwagon of writers having the blog as their official website especially since I know how to write HTML code -- and coding is exactly what I did with this son of a bitch. Don't get me wrong I've been a blogger since 2001 but I worked with Diaryland and Diary-X because they were the most useful for what I wanted to do and can't find a place similar to that website. Stephen was onto something there and I proved him right by getting published no once, but four times with things I originally wrote on Diary-X.com, it actually got bigger than Writings From The Grave.

Looking above would be one of the few copies I have of Tabloid Purposes IV laying around as it just came out, if you're looking for the ghost story "Passenger" -- you can read it in here. It's one of the darker stories I've written and did it differently than most of my horror stories in the decade plus seven that I've been a writer. It was the first one that I wrote and forced to go on hitatus because of the time in the hospital too. But I am glad it is finally out there. If you want this one click on the widget below -- the book is available as a trade paperback format (6.14 x 9.21 Royal.) I am not about to post my novellas on here because they're too long, but you can read those in the anthologies along with the short story Ghosts In The Tornado.
I never thought in my storied long careeer as an author I would have a story living in the Edgar Allan Poe Museum at Richmond, Virginia, and seeing that Mike Brendan is jealous makes me laugh a bit because all his pages are things to wipe one's ass with.  As I said above and in my blog on myspace, I am producing more print exclusive material and you can grab some of that stuff on a widget below that is a shockwave format. You must have flash for some parts on the site now since I am posting video too now or days. My magazine has a non-fiction story in the fifth issue I penned and it's found its way into a magazine on the east coast. There are more coming as I learn and one of them picked up a clean bizarro story I wrote. I've been toying around with both bizarro and traditional horror for quite some time. I like writing traditional horror more than anything, but as time goes on I will toy with writing cyberpunk type fiction with the supernatural horror element.

let the debates begin with this 0ne. The background is Persistence of Memory -- I wanted to match the blurty and InsaneJournal account with this.

The layout -- is a tribute to The House of Pain, down the graphics. I am not stealing Dawn's bandwidth here, I have the graphics loaded to my own server but all the credit is hers with this. I want to show the kinship between the two sites in terms of horror in some ways. Some are similar ground as myself while others have a personality all their own. This along with a story I wrote called The House Of Pain were presents to Wraith as a thanx for letting me handle some of the editing duties. Some of the roster thought it was cool that I did it, while others were torn because of the kind of thing they wrote.

the layout on the stories are based on The House of Pain E-Zine's layouts -- the final issue of the e-mag has a layout that could fit Writings From The Grave. This one was a documentation to the details of me going mad with accusations of child abuse and a marriage that was cancelled along with the engagement. I ended up being a sucker for what they called breakup sex. I put the mother's parents entirely to blame for this, and the churches that are mentioned in the story weren't much help at the time because my nemises was the uneducated youth pastor sayind it was just like me -- listen pal, you're nothing like me. My blood is upon your hands you bastard.

This story was part of the last issue to feature fiction on Insomnia. Ghosts In The Tornado is reprinted in a giveaway anthology I have available as a trade paperback or hardbound book. This story will be read for free at the library in The Edgar Allan Poe Museum

Thanx to Dave Summers for Gothing up his Banner for Writings From The Grave.
